Brilliant for Brighton: Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata & Pedro bans

Chelsea beat Norwich on penalties

Newcastle United will take on Chelsea in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

That’s after Chelsea squeaked past Championship side Norwich on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.

After a 0-0 draw at Carrow Road, Chelsea eventually beat the Canaries on penalties.

Michy Batshuayi opened for the Blues ten minutes into the second half. But a 90th minute leveller from Jamal Lewis took the match into extra time.

Chelsea were reduced to ten men in extra time as both Pedro and Alvaro Morata picked up red cards after two bookable offences respectively.

Norwich lost the shootout 5-3.

Alvaro Morata & Pedro bans vs Brighton

Antonio Conte’s men are back in action on Saturday in the Premier League.

Sitting fourth in the division, level on points with Liverpool and three points behind Man United, the Blues travel to Brighton this weekend.

Both Alvaro Morata and Pedro will be banned for the match at the Amex Stadium.

The FA Cup dismissals mean both Morata and Pedro are forced to miss out this weekend’s league match.

Both Spanish stars will be available for the Carabao Cup semifinal second-leg at Arsenal next midweek.

Brighton vs Chelsea team news

Ross Barkley could make his Chelsea debut this weekend at Brighton.

Barkley has yet to feature this season after a terrible hamstring injury. The England international joined the Blues from Everton this January in a 15 million pound deal.

Conte will also be hoping that Gary Cahill returns to action after a thigh injury.

As for Brighton, Chris Hughton has two absentees for the Chelsea game.

Chelsea loanee Izzy Brown is a long term absentee, as is midfielder Steve Sidwell.

For the record, when the sides met in the league a few weeks ago in December, Chelsea ran out 2-0 winners. Morata and Marcos Alonso scored on that occasion.
