Brendan Rodgers provides Jamie Vardy update ahead of Aston Villa vs Leicester

Aston Villa vs Leicester

The first of two League Cup semi-final second-legs will take place on Tuesday.

Leicester City travel to Aston Villa, before Manchester City play host to Manchester United on Wednesday.

You can check out 101’s betting tips for the Aston Villa vs Leicester clash here.

Leicester’s previous LC clash with Villa saw them earn a 1-1 draw at the King Power.

The Foxes have won the League Cup three times throughout their history, but they have not done so since 2000.

As for Villa, they have clinched the trophy on five occasions, the latest time being in 1996.

Neither side heads into this tie in particularly impressive form. But given the fact that Villa are fighting relegation whilst Leicester are eyeing a Champions League place, you would fancy Brendan Rodgers’ side to edge it on Tuesday.

Brendan Rodgers on Jamie Vardy

Heading into their latest semi-final clash, the Leicester faithful will no doubt be keen to have their top scorer, Jamie Vardy, back fit.

The Englishman picked up an injury vs West Ham last week.

But on Monday, Brendan Rodgers provided a rather positive update on the Leicester hitman.

Rodgers stated that Vardy is fine, and will be in the squad to take on Villa:

“He’s fine. He’s in the squad. He’s worked very hard since his injury last midweek. He’s in the squad and then we’ll give it another full day.

“We’ll see how he is tomorrow (Tuesday), depending on whether he starts or comes off the bench. It’s one where, if you’re asking me if he’s 100 per cent, he may be 80 per cent.

“I’d rather have an 80 per cent Jamie Vardy. He’s come through the last two days on the field well. He has a part to play.” As quoted by Leicester’s official website.
