Reports in the Brazilian media this evening suggest that Everton are set to beat off all competition to secure the signature of Flamengo prodigy Reinier.
Reinier, a 17-year-old attacking midfielder, is widely-regarded as one of the finest young talents to emerge in Brazil over the course of the last decade.
The gifted teen is yet to make a senior appearance for Flamengo, but has dazzled at youth level with both the Brasilerao giants and his country.
Reinier possesses a whole rake of attacking gifts, combining perfect touch, technique, vision, ability to split opposing defences at will and crucially, a keen eye for goal.
All of these traits were on show back in March when, in an U17 South American Championship clash with Paraguay, the youngster, who has been described as a blend of Zinedine Zidane and Kaka in Brazil, notched a pair of goals and set up another to lead the Selecao to a 3-2 win.
Premier League links
As such, it has since come as little surprise to see Reinier heavily-linked with a move to Europe.
The Daily Mail last week suggested that English heavyweights Manchester City and Liverpool were set to battle it out for the midfielder’s signature:

In a huge piece of breaking news emerging from Brazil tonight, though, it appears as though another Premier League outfit are set to blitz the competition to seal Reinier’s addition.
The club in question are Everton.
As reported by both Marcelo Bechler and Bruno Formiga of Esporte Interativo, the Toffees have struck a deal worth 40 million Euro with Flamengo.
This will see Reinier make the move to Goodison Park in January, once he has turned 18:
