Brazil blow as Neymar to miss remainder of World Cup group games

A fresh injury update on Neymar has emerged on Friday.

Brazil kicked off their 2022 World Cup campaign as one of the favourites.

Their first outing saw them take on Serbia on Thursday evening in Qatar.

The South American outfit dominated the match and came away with a 2-0 win thanks to a brace from Tottenham forward, Richarlison.

It was not all good news for Brazil on Thursday, though, as star man Neymar picked up an injury and looked in serious pain when sat on the bench during the match.

Now, an update on the PSG talisman has emerged via Brazilian outlet GeGlobo, who report: “Neymar and Danilo are out of the first round of the World Cup With ankle sprains, the duo will only defend the Brazilian team again in case of qualification for the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar.

“The scans showed a lateral ligament injury on Neymar’s right ankle, along with a small bone swelling. And a medial ligament injury on Danilo’s left ankle - said doctor Rodrigo Lasmar, from the national team.”

Brazil face Switzerland in their next group tie on Monday before taking on Cameron on Friday the 2nd of December.
