Bournemouth vs Brighton betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Bournemouth vs Brighton prediction: Bournemouth 1-2 Brighton

Bournemouth are in serious trouble.

The Cherries’ form has been terrible of late and their five year stay in the top-flight is under serious threat of coming to an end.

As for Brighton, recent good results means their current predicament is far less alarming.

Nevertheless, the Seagulls still have work to do to ensure they do not get sucked into the relegation fight.

Bournemouth vs Brighton & Hove Albion: Who will win?

Hosts Bournemouth are actually the underdogs to win this game at 7/4.

Brighton thereby are the slight favourites at 7/5.

Over 2.5 goals is 5/6.

Both teams to score is 8/13.

Brighton to win and both teams to score is 7/2.

Callum Wilson will lead the line for the home side. He is 5/1 to break the deadlock and 2/1 to end his goal drought.

Harry Wilson will also be hoping to be a threat. The Liverpool loanee is 11/2 to score first and 21/10 to score a, potentially, vital goal.

Neal Maupay is Brighton’s top scorer. He is 4/1 to open the scoring and 6/4 to add to his tally.

Leandro Trossard has been amongst the goals of late. The Belgian is 7/2 to score first and 11/4 to score anytime.

Both Harry Wilson and Callum Wilson to score is 9/1.

Both Ryan Fraser and Dan Gosling to score is 22/1.

Both Trossard and Maupay to score is 9/1.

Bournemouth are in massive trouble.

On Saturday, they travelled to Carrow Road to face the only side below them in the table, Norwich City.

However, it was another miserable afternoon for Eddie Howe and his side.

Just after the half hour mark, a moment of madness would eventually cost them.

Captain Steve Cook was sent off for making a contender for save of the season, blocking a goal bound effort with his left hand.

He was dismissed and Norwich scored the only goal of the game from the resulting penalty.

A really damaging defeat in Norfolk.

So Bournemouth have now only won two of their last 17 Premier League matches, amassing just eight points in that time and falling from sixth to 19th.

Bournemouth are only three points from safety but very much sinking down the table.

Weirdly, the only teams they have beaten since 20 September are Manchester United and Chelsea.

They are going to have to start beating teams around them if their five year top-flight stay is not to come to an end.

Will they reignite their survival hopes with a much needed win?

The Seagulls soaring up the table?

As for Brighton, they are currently doing just about enough to keep away from danger.

On Saturday, despite taking the lead through Leandro Trossard, the Seagulls were held to a 1-1 draw by Aston Villa at home.

That means they have only won one of their last eight league matches but they have drawn four of those.

That sole win came in the reverse fixture three days after Christmas; Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Aaron Mooy with the goals.

So, Graham Potter’s side are currently 14th, five points above their hosts from down the coast.

Away form continues to be a problem though.

Since promotion to the Premier League, the Seagulls have won just five of 49 Premier League away games, two of which came this season.

If they could add to that here, they’d take a massive step towards safety.

Will Brighton win a league match at Dean Court for the first time since 2007 when the two met in the third-tier?

The fairly long injury list Eddie Howe is having to contend with is not helping his survival bid.

Thus, even if he wanted to, he can’t make too many changes to his side as the options are not just there.

Aaron Ramsdale will continue in goal having started all but one of the league games so far.

In defence, Steve Cook is suspended and Jack Stacey, Lloyd Kelly, Chris Mepham and Charlie Daniels are injured.

So, Simon Francis will come into the side from the weekend as a make-shift centre-back.

He’ll join Adam Smith, Nathan Aké and Diego Rico in a worryingly leaky defence.

In midfield, Dan Gosling, Jefferson Lerma and Philip Billing all started at Carrow Road in a midfield three.

However, as this is a must win at home, they’re likely to revert to a 4-4-2.

So, Gosling could drop out to join Andy Surman and Lewis Cook on the bench.

Out-wide, David Brooks has not played at all this season and fellow wingers Junior Stanislas and Arnaut Groeneveld are also out.

So, Ryan Fraser and Harry Wilson will keep their places as their are no other options.

Up front, Josh King is another key player injured.

So, Dominic Solanke will join Callum Wilson in attack.

The former has only scored one goal for Bournemouth and the latter has failed to score in any of his last 15 league appearances.

Sam Surridge has been recalled from his loan spell at Swansea but will still be on the bench.

Will this side end their winless run and climb towards safety?

As for Graham Potter’s side, they do have more options but are also not likely to make too many changes.

Goalkeeper Mat Ryan has made the third most saves in the Premier League (82) but will be hopeful of adding to his five clean sheets here.

In defence, Dan Burn is injured so Bernardo will continue at left-back.

On the other side, Steven Alzate came in for Martín Montoya and is likely to keep his place.

In the centre, Adam Webster will continue to partner Lewis Dunk with Shane Duffy continuing as a substitute.

Further forward, Graham Potter is expected to do the opposite of Eddie Howe.

Brighton played 4-4-2 against Aston Villa on Saturday but are expected to revert back to a 4-3-3.

So, Aaron Mooy will move inside to join Dale Stephens and Davy Pröpper in the heart of the team.

Out wide, Leandro Trossard will switch over the left with Pascal Groß coming into the XI.

The other midfield options are Yves Bissouma and Alireza Jahanbakhsh; José Izquierdo is injured.

Up front, if they do go to three in midfield, Aaron Connolly will be back on the bench after starting on Saturday.

Neal Maupay will continue to lead the line despite the fact his last goal came in the draw at Crystal Palace on 16 December.
