Borussia Dortmund vs Tottenham betting tips: Champions League match preview & predictions

Borussia Dortmund vs Tottenham 101 Great Goals prediction: Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Tottenham

The Champions League quarter-final is within touching distance for Tottenham Hotspur who take a three-goal lead to Germany.

Borussia Dortmund’s disaster in London leaves them with a mountain to climb and seems to have dented their confidence.

However, Spurs have also endured a poor run of form domestically, such that could make proceedings of Tuesday night’s match nervy.

Champions League review: Borussia Dortmund vs Tottenham

An utterly rampant second-half display from Tottenham saw them claim a famous win at Wembley.

Following a tricky first-half, Spurs came flying out the traps after the restart with Heung-min Son immediately firing them into the lead.

Pochettino’s men kept plugging away and their persistence paid off as Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente both netted in the final ten minutes.

Champions League preview: Borussia Dortmund vs Tottenham

Since their crushing 3-0 defeat to Spurs, Lucien Favre’s side have suffered a slight wobble in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund, who were five points clear, are now ahead of Bayern Munich only on goal difference.

They were held to a goalless draw with bottom side Nurnburg, then defeated Bayer Leverkusen and then lost to Ausburg.

Ahead of Tuesday, the German club will have been boosted by the returning Marco Reus and Paco Alcacer.

The duo are the team’s leading scorers this season with 14 goals apiece.

Stopping Son shining

One huge task awaiting Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion will be stopping Tottenham’s Heung-min Son.

The South Korean has now netted nine goals in 11 appearances against BVB.

However, since the return of Harry Kane, Son has looked a shadow of the player who helped fire Tottenham to victory in the first-leg.

Whilst Dortmund have the return of their top scorers, Kane will feature for Spurs in the second-leg.

The 25-year-old has looked well off the pace since his return despite netting two goals in three games.

Having spent just over a month out injured, Kane is taking his time in getting back to full fitness.

His return has also coincided with Spurs’ awful spell of form.

Defeats to Burnley and Chelsea, then a draw with Arsenal has seen them dragged into the top four fight.

Performances have been well of the pace and will offer Dortmund a real sense of optimism.
