Dortmund v Monaco postponed
Tonight’s game between Borussia Dortmund and Monaco was postponed due to an explosion just a few kilometres away from the stadium.
The two teams were due to play the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final in Dortmund tonight, but the game has been postponed until tomorrow due to this unforeseen and shocking event.
The bus carrying the Dortmund team to the stadium was reportedly caught up in the explosion, leaving one person injured: Marc Bartra.
The whys and hows of this explosion remain unclear, and police are currently investigating the situation.
Dortmund offer Monaco fans accomadation
Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, and only one person had to be taken to hospital.
Marc Bartra was the player injured, but thankfully his injuries were only mild, and he’s reportedly already been able to return home.
There was a lovely moment inside the stadium as news was drifting through of the explosion, as the fans waited to hear more news.
Aware that a Dortmund player had been hurt, they chanted ‘Dortmund’ in a show of footballing unity.
And their gesture was well received by Dortmund, who have now offered Monaco fans free accommodation for tomorrow’s game.
