The booking picked up by Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke’s during his side’s clash with Leicester City earlier today has seen the Belgian hit with a one-game ban.
The two sides went head to head at the King Power Stadium today, with many predicting a backs-to-the-wall 90 minutes for the visitors based on Leicester’s excellent recent run of form.
In addition, Roy Hodgson’s Eagles came into the matchup without having found the net on a single occasion away from home in the league this season.
As such, it came as a major shock when the visitors took the lead after just 20 minutes, as Christian Benteke nodded home Andros Townsend’s pinpoint cross from the right:
Crystal Palace’s 1st away PL goal in 935 minutes – hadn’t scored with previous 94 away attempts

And, to the horror of the Foxes faithful inside the King Power, it was soon 2-0, as the electric Wilfied Zaha smashed home past Kasper Schmeichel 5 minutes before the interval, following Benteke’s layoff.
Wilfred Ndidi’s red card for the hosts with an hour on the clock effectively ended the clash as a contest, before Bakary Sako capped a memorable day for Roy Hodgson’s men with a 3rd goal on the stroke of full-time.
However, there was one blip in an otherwise perfect day for Palace, as Christian Benteke picked up his 5th yellow card of the season, meaning he will be suspended for their next Premier League fixture, a crucial trip to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City next Saturday.
