Aaron Ramsey has entered negotiations with Arsenal over signing a new contract with the midfielder set to enter the final year of his current deal next season, according to the Daily Mail.
However, the report claims that the Welshman’s wage demands could prove a stumbling block with Ramsey set to ask for an increase on his current wages which see him earn £100k-a-week.
The Gunners are keen to avoid a repeat of the situation that saw Alexis Sanchez join Manchester United back in January becasue of his contract situation.
Talks between Arsenal and Ramsey have commenced, however, it is understood that a major stumbling block is the player’s wage demands.
Whilst the North Londoners remain confident of eventually tying the 27-year-old down to a deal, Chelsea have been closely monitoring his situation.
Chelsea are looking to overhaul their squad in the summer, following a disappointing season and are alert to the possibility of signing Ramsey.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger recently spoke about the situaion:
“We are communicating. I’m confident.
“He is not at the end of his contract. He has one-and-a-half years to go.”
