Jurgen Klopp celebrates Liverpool win at West Ham

Bookies close bets on Liverpool’s first signing of the summer

Will Liverpool sign Iker Casillas?

Earlier this week, the Spanish press linked Liverpool with a shock move for Iker Casillas.

The former Real Madrid goalkeeper has been at Porto for the last two seasons and is now out of contract.

AS, the Madrid-based newspaper, reported that Casillas has offers from Turkey, China and the Middle East.

The bookies certainly think so!

But, was most likely to sign for Liverpool and that there might even be a pre-contract between Casillas and the Merseyside giants.

On Wednesday, bookmaker Ladbrokes announced that they are no longer taking bets on Casillas to join Liverpool this summer.

The experienced stopper has reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement with the Reds, and the bookies are treading carefully, believing it’s likely to be a case of when and not if we see the Spaniard unveiled at Anfield.

Ladbrokes News’ Dave Burin said: “It’s not a done deal just yet, but with the wheels in motion on an Anfield move, we’re not taking any chances on Casillas.”

Simon Mignolet: Liverpool’s number one?

We doubt this will go down too well with Simon Mignolet.

But it certainly feels like the bookmakers might have gone too early on this rumour.

AS are close to Casillas and his representatives. Liverpool have two goalkeepers fighting for the number one position.

Would Jurgen Klopp jettison Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet for an ageing goalkeeper?
