Sam Allardyce sacked by Everton
Whenever a manager is sacked expectedly, they call it the “worst kept secret in football”.
Sam Allardyce’s departure from Everton really was just that as the former Bolton boss seemed to be well aware that he would be out the door at West Ham on Sunday.
The problem for Allardyce was that by the time he took over, Everton were looking good for survival and his “fire fighting” was not really needed as first expected.
The challenge for Allardyce was to show the Everton fans he had a future at the club but in the final weeks of the campaign this simply hadn’t happened.
Who next for Everton: Marco Silva!
It looks like Marco Silva will have the last laugh.
The former Hull and Watford boss is being heavily tipped to replace Allardyce at Everton.
So much so that the bookies are completely convinced.
Marco Silva is just 8/13 with Ladbrokes for the Everton job.
The Toffees have parted ways with Sam Allardyce and the bookies now make the former Watford boss the clear favourite to take over at Goodison Park.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “As expected, Big Sam has been given the boot and the latest betting suggests Silva is lining up a swift return to the Prem.”
In the build-up to the Sam Allardyce sacking, there were suggestions that Marco Silva and Everton may still have to deal with Everton to complete the deal.

Everton’s full statement on Sam Allardyce sacking:
Everton Football Club can confirm that Sam Allardyce has left his role as manager.
Professor Denise Barrett-Baxendale said: “On behalf of the Chairman, Board of Directors and Mr Moshiri, I’d like to thank Sam for the job he has done at Everton over the last seven months. Sam was brought in at a challenging time last season to provide us with some stability and we are grateful to him for doing that.
“However, we have made the decision that, as part of our longer-term plan, we will be appointing a new manager this summer and will be commencing this process immediately. Again, we’d like to place on record our sincere thanks to Sam for his work with us over the last few months and wish him well for the future.”
