Everton have been dealt a huge transfer blow today as Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed where Theo Walcott is headed in the January window.
That place is at the Emirates after the Frenchman admitted in his pre-match press conference that he has no plans to sell the Englishman.
Wenger was speaking ahead of their Europa League clash with BATE Borisov and Walcott is likely to play a part in the game having overcome an illness.
Though, the Englishman’s future was on the agenda too as his time at Arsenal is looking to be coming to an end.
Walcott has been unable to recapture his form in the past and is looking unlikely to force his way into Wenger’s Premier League starting eleven.
That has prompted rumours surrounding his future with Everton and West Ham linked with moves both last summer and now in January window.
Though, Wenger’s press conference today certainly gives us an insight into his feelings behind a potential move.
Safe to say, the Frenchman was clear in that he doesn’t want Theo Walcott to leave Arsenal.
“He works very hard to come back into it,” he explained.
“He had a sickness a few weeks ago and after I didn’t change the squad but in training, he looks very sharp.”
When asked whether he was planning to keep him in January, he simply replied: “Yes.”
Wenger confirms Wilshere and Walcott will start. On Walcott: “He works very hard to come back into it. He had a sickness a few weeks ago and after I didn’t change the squad but in training he looks very sharp.” So you are keeping him in January? “Yes.”
