Ruben Loftus-Cheek recently made his England debut.
The Chelsea midfielder, who was loaned to Crystal Palace for the season, starred in a friendly against Germany.
RLC’s inclusion in England’s World Cup squad has since been mooted. But, according to the latest updates on Friday, hopes of Loftus-Cheek being on the plane to Russia are fading fast.
Sadly for the Crystal Palace and Chelsea midfielder, he’s injured and he’s not healing quickly.
Crystal Palace, who are only out of the drop one on goal difference, face Man United at Selhurst Park on Monday.
Loftus-Cheek will again be missing for Palace in the game as he continues to try to get fit at Chelsea.
Back in January it was reported that RLC had gone back to Chelsea in an effort to recover from an ankle knock. But the Guardian on Friday report that the comeback isn’t going that well as a new injury problem has surfaced:
Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s hopes of proving he merits inclusion in England’s World Cup squad have been dealt another blow after the midfielder suffered discomfort in a knee after his first full training session since recovering from ankle trouble.
Loftus-Cheek trained fully with Chelsea’s under-23s at Cobham on Monday and, with a couple of follow-up sessions pencilled in, was due to return to Palace on Saturday with a view to working with the first team next week.
However, he suffered knee pain immediately after that first run-out and, although the injury is considered to be a knock-on from his lengthy period out, his comeback has been delayed again.
Palace have major injury problems right now.
Wilfried Zaha is still sidelined and he’ll miss the Man United game too. Other stars missing for the Eagles include Mamadou Sakho, Yohan Cabaye and Scott Dann.
