According to Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports, Championship outfit Birmingham City are in negotiations with former Arsenal star Alex Song regarding a return to English football.

Song, who lined out for Arsenal from 2006-2012, has enjoyed a difficult period in his career since departing the Emirates for Barcelona.

He struggled for game-time during his stint with the Blaugrana, leading to a pair of loan spells at West Ham, and a permanent transfer to Russian outfit Rubin Kazan last summer.

Blues bound

Still just 29 years of age, Song now looks set for a move back to England, with Harry Redknapp’s Birmingham City his imminent destination.

Following news breaking of negotiations between the parties this morning, a number of outlets have since claimed that an agreement is close to being reached, with Song set to join Blackburn midfielder Jason Lowe in making the move to St. Andrew’s today.

The Blues are also said to be closing on a move for Brentford winger Jota.
