Man City 7 – Stoke 2
Who can stop Man City winning the Premier League?
Pep Guardiola watched another incredible performance from the Sky Blues on Saturday as they beat Stoke 7-2.
Man United drew 0-0 at Liverpool earlier in the day. That meant City’s win opened up a two point buffer at the top of the table.
Interestingly, early in the second half Stoke were sniffing up upset.
Mame Biram Diouf scored either side of the halftime break as Stoke trailed 3-2.
Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and David Silva had previously put City 3-0 up.
But after Stoke scared City, the home side put their foot on the gas.
Gabriel Jesus made it 4-2, Fernandinho scored a screamer for City’s fifth, before Leroy Sane and Bernardo Silva both found the target.
Better than Eden Hazard & Harry Kane
Who is the best player in the Premier League?
Perhaps not based on this season’s performances, but Chelsea fans may argue that Eden Hazard is the best.
Tottenham fans, meanwhile, would clearly sing the praises of Harry Kane.
And aside from those Spurs and Chelsea stars, Liverpool fans may promulgate Philippe Coutinho, while Arsenal fans would big up Alexis Sanchez.
For Stoke City manager Mark Hughes, however, he made a big statement after the Man City game:
Kevin De Bruyne is head and shoulders above any player in the Premier League.
Against Stoke (where he chalked up two assists), De Bruyne made his 100th appearance for Man City.
In that time the Belgian star has 25 goals and 38 assists. That’s a goal or assist ever 125 minutes.
