Best trio in Europe? Liverpool’s attacking talent rank highly

Liverpool have the best attacking trio in Europe, according to Sky Sports pundits Steve Sidwell and Dennis Wise.

In all competitions this season, Roberto Firmino, Saido Mane and Mo Salah have scored a combined of 63 goals, only bettered by Paris Saint-Germain’s attack who have scored four more.

FC Porto 0-5 Liverpool

The Reds produced a truly sensational performance on Portuguese soil on Tuesday as they placed one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals by putting five past Porto.

Firmino, Mane and Salah all managed to get their names on the scoresheet to hand Liverpool a comfortable advantage heading into the second-leg.

After 25 minutes, Mane opened the scoring as his shot from close range squirmed under the body of Porto goalkeeper Jose Sa to begin what would be a tricky night for the Primeira Liga leaders.

Salah, just moments later, cooly added his 30th goal of the season and Liverpool’s second, as he showed incredible composure to juggle the ball over the Porto back-line before converting.

“Best trio in Europe!”

Speaking after the game, Sky Sports pundits Sidwell and Wise stated bold claims that this Liverpool attack is the best on the continent.

The trio have outscored Barcelona’s, Manchester City’s and Real Madrid’s front three, such a feat that has seen them remain undefeated in Europe and currently sat third in the Premier League this season.

Sidwell when asked whether Liverpool’s attacking trio is the best in Europe:

“Of course it is.”

He added:

“The stats don’t lie. They’ve scored the most goals in the Champions League group stage which is a record.

They backed it up tonight with a 5-0 win. They’re all slowly throwing down a marker to say ‘listen, watch out for us’.”

Former Chelsea player Wise went on to back up Sidwell’s claims:

“I do agree but you’ve also got to look at the Manchester City three, they’re not bad either.

They’re up there as well with them.

For me, I would at this present time go with the Liverpool three.

They’re performing in this period where they’re so clinical so I’d put them in front at the moment.”
