Rafa Benitez calls for VAR in Premier League after Newcastle vs Wolves

The Premier League needs VAR

Rafa Benitez has claimed VAR is needed in the Premier League.

The video technology is being trialled, but the Newcastle United boss wants it now.

He pointed to several incidents during the game his side lost, and said they need to help officials.

Sky Sports report he said: “We need VAR right now.

“So if you see the incidents today. It’s so obvious – the red card and the elbow in the face of Ayoze Perez. We need the VAR right now.”

A relegation battle

There’s no denying Newcastle are in a relegation battle.

There are issues with Mike Ashley and the fans, and even protests that have been arranged.

Ashley has claimed he could be willing to sell the club before the January transfer window, but has made those promises before.

Now, with Southampton and Fulham having new managers in place, those teams are expecting their fortunes to change.

Not only that, but Cardiff are picking up points at home.

Newcastle may have felt the loss against Wolves was harsh, but they still dropped three points.

They’re three points ahead of the drop zone, and Benitez will want funds in January.
