BeIN Sports Premier League deal looks to have scuppered Saudi takeover bid for Newcastle United
No Newcastle takeover
For some time, the future of Newcastle United Football Club has been one of conjecture. There have been several reports of takeover bids sent to current owner Mike Ashley, however none have being successful.
There has been rumours of a Saudi bid for the north east Club, however indication is that with the new beIN Sports deal being signed until 2025, any possibility of the Saudi bid arriving at Mike Ashley’s door will now not happen.
So the mystery Saudi bid never materialised….which presumably means definitive endgame for Newcastle United bid

They had been growing concerns that had the Saudi bid for the TV rights in the Middle East been accomplished, it could have had a knock on effect on the UK’s intellectual property. Reportedly, the new deal for the Qatari-based beIN Sports network shows a vote of confidence in the Premier League’s stance on ‘piracy and its commitment to regional deals.’
Huge vote of confidence for the PL, its stance on piracy & its commitment to regional deals. No carve-out for Saudi Arabia or Saudi bid for MENA rights. Clear signal to Saudis: reinstate beIN, protect UK intellectual property. Hard to see movement on NUFC until that happens. https://t.co/4Qjd11rru3

Sunday league defending
Regarding Newcastle United’s football on the pitch, it was not a happy place when the magpies travelled to Elland Road to face Leeds United. Despite the score standing at 2-2 after Ciaran Clark equalised with a 65th-minute header, Newcastle eventually went on to lose the game 5-2.
Manager Steve Bruce likened the defending of his side to that of a Sunday league team.
“I thought we looked a threat when we equalised,” said Bruce. “Of course Leeds are always going to ask you questions the way they play, they do it very well, but we’ve gifted them the two or three goals at the end. Unfortunately they’re something which you see on a park on a Sunday.”

“We can’t make those mistakes we’ve made here. At the wrong time we’ve given away poor goals, not defended well enough and got punished. It’s unacceptable.”
The defeat leaves Newcastle behind Leeds. Dropping to 14th, they remain three points ahead of struggling Arsenal with a game in hand. Bruce’s side have an important fixture against Fulham at the weekend which will be followed by a tough encounter with Manchester City. it is therefore important that Steve Bruce and his side take maximum points from the clash with the West London club.
