Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski misses training before Liverpool

Robert Lewandowski

Bayern Munich vs Liverpool

Bayern Munich welcome Liverpool to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday in the Champions League.

This last-16 is perfectly poised after a 0-0 draw at Anfield a fortnight ago.

Liverpool know that if they score once in Germany, Bayern will need to score twice to progress.

But Bayern will be confident of beating the Reds in front of their own fans.

Robert Lewandowski goes missing

Bayern fans have fresh reasons to be concerned about the Liverpool game.

On Monday morning, Polish centre-forward Robert Lewandowski was missing from Bayern’s training session.

Is the centre-forward injured?

It’s worth noting that Lewandowski played 90 minutes on Saturday in the Bundesliga against Wolfsburg in a 6-0 win.

The general assumption is that Lewandowski has been given a rest before Liverpool.

Lewandowski is on fire

Lewandowski score twice for Bayern last weekend.

Those goals were hugely significant, as Lewandowski is now the highest scoring non-German player in the history of the Bundesliga.

Lewandowski is now up to 17 goals for the season.

Moreover, he’s on 197 goals in the Bundesliga, which is two more than Claudio Pizzarro.

Lewandowski & Thierry Henry

Lewandowski talks about meeting the French forward, and how Thierry Henry is one of his idols.
