It’s not been a great start to the season for Bayern
Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthäus has today slammed midfielder James Rodriguez and labelled the player ‘egotistical’ after disrespecting the club.
It really hasn’t been a great start to the season for the German giants.
While it started off pretty well for Niko Kovac and his side, results have recently taken a dramatic turn.
They have recently drawn with Augsburg, lost 2-0 to Hertha Berlin, drawn with Ajax in the Champions League and lost 3-0 to Borussia Mönchengladbach.
That has placed some pretty significant pressure on Kovac but some of his star men have certainly not started the season as he would have liked.
One of those is James Rodriguez.
‘Bayern have too many players only interested in themselves’
James has only played 422 minutes of football across all competitions this season.
That decision has seemingly not gone down too well with the player and some are questioning his attitude.
One of those is Bayern legend Lothar Matthäus.
He has claimed that Rodriguez is a player who only plays for himself.
‘Bayern have too many players only interested in themselves,’ Matthaus explained to Spanish media, as cited by Football Espana.
‘[James] is one of the players who place their individual importance above the club, then they complain when they are not playing enough.
‘It is egotistical and it is disrespectful in respect to his coach, his club and his team-mates, he cannot react angrily because [manager] Kovac does not put his arm around him like [former boss Jupp] Heynckes did.’
Forget Eden Hazard: Real Madrid actually want Neymar & Tottenham star
James Rodriguez’s former club Real Madrid are looking to make some big moves in the next two transfer windows.
Several stars have been lined up including Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
Though, reports have suggested Neymar and another player are actually the clubs priority.
