Leon Bailey

Bayern Munich join Man United, Liverpool and more in chase of Bundesliga wingers

As per a report from reliable German outlet Kicker this afternoon, Bayern Munich have set their sights on both Leon Bailey and Christian Pulisic.

Blistering youngster

Bailey, a 20-year-old Jamaican winger, only made the move to the BayArena in January of last year for a fee of 20 million Euro, following links with the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United.

The pacy starlet caught the eye with his performances in the Europa League for Belgian outfit Genk last season, and has racked up 10 goals and 5 assists in 20 domestic appearances to this point in the campaign with Leverkusen (15 starts).

In-demand

However, despite being just 6 months into his first full season in the Bundesliga, Bailey has already been heavily linked with a departure from Germany, with a number of Europe’s biggest clubs known to maintain an interest in his services.

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Barcelona are all reported to be keeping an eye on the youngster’s progress at the BayArena, with summer bids of over 50 million Euro having already been touted.

BVB starlet

Christian Pulisic, meanwhile, emerged as one of world football’s most highly-regarded prospects over the last couple of seasons, after breaking into Borussia Dortmund’s first-team setup at the tender age of 17.

The American youngster, who has already been capped 20 times for his country (and notched 9 goals in that span) has since gone from strength to strength, with his incredible close control, ability to beat his man at will and eye for goal having seen Pulisic added to the wishlist of a number of European heavyweights.

Liverpool have long been named as admirers of the talents of the Pennsylvania native, though reports stemming from England over the last couple of weeks have indicated that the Reds have been joined by Manchester United in expressing an interest in Pulisic.

Competition

And, as per the aforementioned report from Kicker, both Pulisic and Bailey have since been lined up by Bayern Munich, who are known to be on the lookout for reinforcements out wide this summer.

Both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are entering the twilight years of their respective careers, with Bayern keen to add some fresh young blood to their options on the wings as a result.

As such, any and all clubs planning summer moves for either Bailey or Pulisic will likely face a tough task in securing one of their signatures, with Bayern long-renowned for snatching up the finest young talent that the rest of the Bundesliga has to offer.
