Coutinho’s Barca struggles
Philippe Coutinho made the switch to Barcelona from Liverpool in January of 2018, for a fee believed to be around £130 million.
While Barca didn’t exactly come out and say it, it did look as though Coutinho was brought in to help replace to Neymar, who departed for PSG the summer before.
The little magician’s first half-season in Spain wasn’t too bad. In 18 La Liga clashes, he netted eight and assisted five.
However, the 2018/19 campaign was rather poor from Coutinho. In 34 La Liga outings, he scored just five and managed a dismal two assists.
Coutinho on his future
After such a poor season from such an expensive player, Coutinho has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp.
In particular, Coutinho has been touted as being used as as potential makeweight in the deal to bring Neymar back to Barca.
Coutinho is now on international duty in Brazil, competing in the Copa America.

After going unbeaten in their three group games, Brazil will now face Paraguay in the last eight.
Ahead of the game, Coutinho has spoken out about his Barcelona future:
“I have a contract with Barcelona.
“It was always my will to succeed in this club, but now I am totally concentrated here (with Brazil).
“Many things that come out in the media are simply not true but as for my future we do not know what is going to happen, that is the truth.
“Honestly, it wasn’t a good season. It didn’t produce what I wanted, it didn’t go as I hoped.
“But I hope it serves me as an example, as a lesson so that I want more, concentrate even more to be able to succeed.
“Whether a good or bad season it doesn’t change anything. The desire to win is always the same, or maybe even more so.” As quoted by the Independent.
