FC Barcelona v Paris Saint-Germain - UEFA Champions League Round of 16: Second Leg

Barcelona’s Luis Suarez set for a month on the sidelines

According to a report from RAC1 this afternoon, Barcelona star Luis Suarez looks set to miss up to a month’s worth of action following the injury he picked up during his side’s Spanish Super Cup loss last night.

Bad night

A 2-0 defeat to fierce rivals Real Madrid at the Bernabeu was compounded by an injury to striker Suarez, with the Uruguayan having pulled up late in the match with a knee problem.

The former Liverpool standout did manage to see out the remainder of proceedings, though his discomfort was clear for all to see.

And, as per the aforementioned report from RAC1 this afternoon, the initial diagnosis does not look good, with it claimed that Suarez could be sidelined for up to a month.

If proven accurate, the news could not come at a worse time for Barca, with Ernesto Valverde’s side having recently lost superstar Neymar to PSG, along with being comprehensively outplayed by Real Madrid over the two legs of their Super Cup Clasico.

However, there may be some consolation for fans of the Blaugrana today, with general manager Pep Segura revealing that deals for both Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho ‘are close.’
