Barcelona see off Getafe
FC Barcelona were in action against Getafe in La Liga this weekend.
The Catalan giants haven’t been in great form of late. They only just edged past an out of form Real Betis side last weekend, and before that tie, Barca were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Athletic Bilbao.
So, a win over 3rd placed Getafe was of paramount importance to Barcelona on Saturday, especially if they wanted to keep the pressure on Real Madrid.
Antoine Griezmann eventually broke the deadlock for Quique Setien’s side in the 33rd minute, with Sergi Roberto adding a second for Barca just six minutes later.
Getafe did pull one back with 66 minutes on the clock, but Barcelona were able to hold out for all three points.
That victory put Barca level on points with table-topping Real Madrid, who were in action on Sunday evening.

Griezmann on playing with Lionel Messi
As mentioned above, it would be Griezmann who opened the scoring on Saturday, with Lionel Messi providing the assist for the Frenchman.
That strike was Griezmann’s 8th league goal of the season, and whilst a case could be made that the 28-year-old hasn’t had the most fruitful time since joining Barca, he seems to be enjoying his football at the moment.
After the Getafe clash, Griezmann would speak about playing with Messi.
The former Atletico Madrid standout admitted that he and Messi are still learning each other’s movements. But Griezmann also believes that their partnership is getting better:
“I have been here for seven months and we are still learning each other’s movements.
“It’s getting better and we are enjoying playing together.
“I am loving playing alongside Messi and we are having success.” As quoted by the Daily Mail.
