Barcelona to sign Brazilian “wonderkid”

Arthur to Barca

The 21 year old was pictured wearing a Barcelona shirt and posing for photos with the club’s sporting director Robert Fernandez last week.

The Gremio midfielder was named MOTM in last week’s Copa Libertadores final, in which his side won the trophy for the first time in over 20 years.

Arthur has been described as a mix between Xavi and Iniesta, two of Barcelona’s greatest ever players.

Arthur is without a doubt, a great player, and could even be heading to the World Cup with Brazil if he continues his fine form in the Brazilian first division.

Good news for Liverpool and Arsenal

Liverpool and Arsenal fans can rejoice as Barcelona’s pursuits of both Coutinho and Ozil could be coming to an end.

Arthur has a release clause of €50 million in his contract and Barcelona are unlikely to sign more than one attacking midfielder.

Coutinho was extremely close to joining the Blaugrana in the summer and there have been constant rumours that Ozil is heading to the Nou Camp throughout the season.

Ozil is out of contract in the summer and Arsenal are struggling to convince the German to sign a new deal.

However, if Barcelona do sign Arthur, Ozil is unlikely to follow suit and head back to Spain.

Done deal?

Sport.Es (Spanish) report that perhaps Arthur in fact said “Yes” to Barcelona whilst meeting with the club’s director, Robert Fernandez, last week.

Arthur can play across the midfield and is extremely versatile, Barcelona will be looking to complete this deal sooner rather than later and fend off interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.

At only 21 years of age, Arthur could go on to become a Barcelona legend and looking through recent reports, he could become a Barcelona player very soon.

Rumour rating: 8/10
