Barcelona to make Chelsea offer for N’Golo Kante after the World Cup

Barcelona are preparing a move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante after the World Cup, according to Gianluca di Marzio.

The 27-year-old has played an instrumental role in helping the French national team reach Sunday’s final in Moscow yet again proving his worth as one of the best midfielders in world football.

The Blues are awaiting the arrival of Jorginho from SSC Napoli this week who is expected to join at the West London club in a deal worth £53m.

The former Leicester City player has become one the best midfielders in the world since arriving in England, having claimed two Premier League titles and an FA Cup over the past three seasons.

His reputation has sky-rocketed with Europe’s biggest clubs desperate to gain his signature, with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain the club’s most interested.

The Catalan Giants are looking to fill the void left in midfield by Andres Iniesta who departed for China this summer and Kante is a man which the club have identified.

Barcelona are planning to make their move for the Frenchman following the conclusion of the World Cup and are readying an offer.

Di Marzio adds that the La Liga champions are considering offer Andre Gomes as part of a deal with the Portuguese international expected to leave the Nou Camp this summer.

Chelsea’s new contract proposals

The West London club are desperate to keep hold of Kante, despite having missed out on Champions League football.

Chelsea are expected to ask for in excess of £100m for the player should they be forced to sell, however, the club have planned talks to offer him a new contract.

The situation is not expected to develop until after the World Cup and Maurizio Sarri takes charge following the departure of Antonio Conte.
