Barcelona target potential Samuel Umtiti replacement

Umtiti heading out?

Barcelona are reportedly looking at replacements for Manchester United target Samuel Umtiti and could well have found their man.

The side are bracing themselves for summer interest from the Old Trafford side as the French central defender continues to give mixed signals.

At times over the past month or so he has almost confirmed that Manchester United are interested in him and reports state he could move.

Other reports claim that he is demanding a new pay rise to stay at the Camp Nou and even reiterated his love for the club last week.

Speaking on his future, Umtiti also confirmed that Man United were not the only club interested in him.

‘It’s not only Manchester United, other clubs want me as well, but my sole focus is on Barcelona,’ he explained.

‘Negotiations for a contract renewal have not started yet.’

‘My release clause is low, but that’s not what I worry about, I focus on the pitch.’

Now, reports on Tuesday seem to suggest that Barcelona are nervous about their defensive situation.

Javier Mascherano has already left the club but should Umtiti leave, Barcelona must be prepared.

Now, Telefoot, cited by the Mirror, suggest that the club have lined up a move for RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano as a potential signing.

The Frenchman is very highly rated and has made 24 appearances for the Bundesliga side this season despite only being 19.

Though, with his immense potential, he would not come cheap and could certainly grow to be an adequate replacement for Umtiti.

In fact, Telefoot even claim that Barcelona will pay up to €100million to get their man.
