Barcelona return? Robert Lewandowski reveals Lionel Messi teammate dream

Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has on Saturday set the internet ablaze, owing to comments regarding the talents of Lionel Messi.

Polish international Lewandowski, of course, made the move to the Camp Nou this past summer, on the back of a record-breaking stint in Germany with Bayern Munich.

And to say that the veteran hitman has since gone on to enjoy a fine start to life in Blaugrana colours would be something of an understatement.

All told, across 19 appearances to date, Lewandowski has racked up a hefty 18 goals, to go along with four assists.

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of ‘Lewa’ having already very much endeared himself to the Barca faithful.

And, as alluded to above, the Pole’s latest comments only look set to see this bond strengthened ever further.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo late on Saturday, Lewandowski was drawn on Lionel Messi, with the Argentina of course both widely regarded as Barcelona’s greatest-ever player, and fresh off clinching World Cup glory in Qatar.

And Barca’s new hitman, after first naming Messi as favourite to lift the next Ballon d’Or, went on to reveal his hope that, one day, he will be afforded the opportunity to line out alongside the South American.

‘I would like to play with Messi before retiring,’ Lewandowski remarked.

With the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner’s Paris Saint-Germain contract due to expire in the summer of 2023, could we see Messi and Lewandowski link up in Catalunya next season?
