Spanish outlet MundoDeportivo have this evening reported that Spanish giants Barcelona have revived their interest in one of German football’s most promising young talents.
The player in question is Borussia Dortmund’s fleet-footed winger Ousmane Dembele, who’s scintillating performances for the Westfalenstadion side this season have attratced the interest of some of Europe’s top clubs.
Though most sides were already well aware of the immense potential of Dembele following his breakout campaign with Rennes in 2015-16, few could have predicted just how much of an impact the 20-year-old would make in his first season with Dortmund.
Dembele’s phenomenal performances in both the Bundesliga and Champions league this season saw the youngster rack up 10 goals and 18 assists across all competitions, with his seering pace and quick feet giving opposing defenders nightmares on a weekly basis.
Having considered an offer for Dembele during his time in Ligue 1, La Liga giants Barcelona have now reignited their interest in the French international, earmarking him as the ideal replacement for the outgoing Arda Turan at Camp Nou.
Any Blaugrana move for the talented 20-year-old will, however, be a difficult operation for Barca’s transfer chiefs, with Dembele said to prioritise a starting berth over money or top-club status.
