Bad news for Barcelona
Barcelona have been dealt some bad news during the international break.
Luis Suarez is preparing for a huge game this evening as Uruguay face Venezuela in South American World Cup qualifying.
A victory for Uruguay ensures they will definitely play at the World Cup in Russia next summer.
And, for Luis Suarez personally, this will be an enormous World Cup, as he looks to rewrite history after chewing on Giorgio Chiellini in 2014.
Surgery for Luis Suarez?
Reports on Catalan radio on Thursday confirm that Luis Suarez is still suffering from discomfort in his right knee.
Suarez missed Barcelona matches due to his right knee injury at the end of August, but continued to play.
Initial reports suggested Suarez would be out for a month. But, it appears that Suarez did not want to miss Uruguay matches due to the injury.
Luis Suarez has been playing with the knee injury
Catalan reports today confirm that Suarez has been playing with discomfort and Barcelona medical staff are making sure it is not getting worse.
The definitive solution is likely to be that Suarez will have to undergo surgery.
If that is the case, Suarez is likely to be back in action in around three weeks.
When could Luis Suarez undergo surgery?
If Uruguay do qualify for the World Cup, either today, or next week, Suarez and Barcelona will likely have a decision to make.
Suarez will want to be 100% for the World Cup and the latter months of the 2017/2018 season.
As a result, this surgery could take place in and around either the November international break. Or the January La Liga winter break.
If Suarez can make it that long…
