After months of speculation surrounding who the next manager of La Liga giants Barcelona would be, the Catalunyan side have today confirmed the appointment of one of the Spanish top flight’s most highly-regarded names.
On the way out
Since Luis Enrique confirmed that he would step down from his post as Barca boss at the end of the current campaign, the Blaugrana have been on the lookout for the ideal replacement for their former player.
The recently-crowned Copa Del Rey champions were not exactly spoiled for choice, with the majority of the world’s top managers tied to deals across the continent.
Hence, Barca have opted for a man with vast experience of Spanish football, in the form of Ernesto Valverde.
Another former player of the club, Valverde has been in management since 2002, with spells at the likes of Athletic Bilbao, Valencia and Olympiacos under his belt.
He has signed a two-year deal at the Camp Nou.
