Barcelona boost as two key members of Xavi's squad expected to sign new contracts in March

Word stemming from the Spanish media over the course of the last 24 hours points towards two crucial members of the first-team setup at FC Barcelona preparing to commit their long-term futures to the club.

The players in question? Gavi and Ronald Araujo.

Speculation has of course been rampant surrounding the long-term plans of both La Masia graduate Gavi and defensive stalwart Araujo for some time now.

This comes with the respective terms of both players at the Camp Nou due to expire in the summer of 2023.

Links with some of European football's biggest clubs, in turn, have inevitably been forthcoming, with Gavi named as a target of Champions League holders Chelsea, and Araujo understood to be on the wishlist of Manchester United.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then the Barcelona faithful need not fret.

This comes amid claims that both Gavi and Araujo are primed to put pen to paper on fresh terms in the Catalan capital, putting to bed any remaining speculation surrounding their respective futures in the process.

As per Diario Sport, 'definitive contract agreements' are expected to be found between club and players before March is out, potentially to be announced as early as the aftermath of the latest edition of El Clasico on the 20th of the month.

Racing talent incoming

News of Barca's efforts to tie two current members of Xavi's ranks down for the long-term of course comes fresh on the back of word of another up-and-coming prodigy preparing to take his talents to the Camp Nou this coming summer.

As per a host of reliable sources across the day to date, the Blaugrana are on the verge of tying up a deal for Real Racing Club midfielder Pablo Torre.

Having already thrashed out an agreement with the 18-year-old himself on the personal terms of a contract, the transfer team in Catalunya have since entered into direct negotiations with Racing, with it viewed as a mere formality that a deal will imminently be struck.
