According to reports in the English press this morning, both Barcelona and Arsenal are interested in AC Milan attacker Andre Silva.
Silva, who only arrived at the San Siro from Porto for a hefty 40 million Euro fee this summer, is widely considered as being one of the most promising young talents in world football.
Despite being just 21 years of age, he has notched a hugely impressive 11 goals in 17 appearances for the Portuguese national team, and has received the honour of being named as Cristiano Ronaldo’s heir for the Selecção by the Real Madrid star himself.
Serie A switch
Silva notched 16 goals and 5 assists in the league for Porto last season, with a number of Europe’s top clubs having expressed an interest in his signature over the summer.
However, Milan were seemingly the only club willing to meet the Dragão outfit’s steep valuation of their star man, with Silva having made the switch to the rebuilding Italian giants in June.
However, despite having spent around 200 million Euro on new recruits over the course of the transfer market, the Rossoneri have struggled of late, winning just 1 of their last 5 games across all competitions.
This has led to speculation that some of the star names brought in by the Diavolo over the summer could seek moves away in the near future, should the club’s fortunes not improve.
If this does prove to be the case, then Silva will likely be on the wishlist of most of Europe’s top clubs.
And, as per the aforementioned reports in England today, Barcelona and Arsenal will be at the front of the queue.
Though generally deployed as a centre forward, Silva can also behind a main striker or on either wing, meaning he would be a highly valuable asset for either the Blaugrana or the Gunners.
Barca are rumoured to be on the lookout for a versatile attacker, with the Catalans eager to be rid of both Arda Turan and Paco Alcacer in the near future, whilst Arsenal are preparing for the likely exits of both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
