Barcelona ‘agree’ Matthijs de Ligt fee with Ajax

As reported on the ‘Club de la Mitjanit’ show on Spanish TV on Monday night, Barcelona have reached an agreement with Ajax over Matthijs de Ligt’s transfer fee.

It’s been claimed that Ajax and Barcelona have agreed a 75 million euro price tag for 19-year-old de Ligt. TV viewers have been told:

Barca will pay 75 million to Ajax if De Ligt decides to come. The agreement between the two clubs is total.

It’s also been revealed that Barcelona are only likely to finalise the de Ligt deal in July, rather than June.

So does this mean that Matthijs de Ligt to Barcelona is done?

No, it doesn’t.

As made clear on the ‘Club de la Mitjanit’ show, attention has now shifted onto Matthijs de Ligt.

Will the centre-half agree to move to the Camp Nou?

That’s up in the air, as de Ligt recently confirmed that a key consideration in any career move is the guarantee of playing time.

Speaking after his Nations League final loss to Portugal, the Dutch defender told NOS:

I’m going on holidays now. I’m going to think about what’s best for me and then I’ll decide.

It’s important for a young player to play, that’s the only thing I’m sure of.

What about PSG signing Matthijs de Ligt?
