Both Liverpool and German outfit RB Leipzig have received some bad news regarding midfielder Naby Keita who is set to move to Anfield in the summer.
The player was the subject of much speculation during the last summer transfer window but Liverpool were unable to agree a fee for the player.
Though, they did eventually find a compromise after the transfer window had closed, agreeing a fee that would see the player move the following summer.
RB Leipzig were clear that they wanted the player to stay for one more season and even rebuffed attempts from the Anfield side to sign him early in January.
The German side stood strong but now they and Liverpool have some potentially bad news over the player’s fitness.
That is because Keita has suffered a strain in his right thigh that could keep the player out for a little while.
RB Leipzig confirmed the news on their social media account, making it clear that it was unsure when he would return to action.
While that is very unlikely to effect Liverpool due to it only being potentially a small injury, the club will no doubt be keeping an eye on the situation.
If the injury turned out to be something more serious or that injury is aggravated upon return, it could cause some issues.
For the meantime, Keita will be looking to get back on the field in the next few weeks.
Injury news: On Monday night, Naby Keita picked up a strain in his right thigh and Willi Orban sustained a deep cut in his right knee which required stitches.
