Pedro v David Ospina

Bad news for Chelsea & Pedro after the Arsenal match

Pedro v David Ospina

Saturday was generally a terrific day for Chelsea, except for one incident involving Pedro.

The Blues handed Arsenal their first defeat of pre-season, as Chelsea ran out 3-0 winners over the Gunners in the Bird’s Nest in Beijing.

Willian broke the deadlock, before Michy Batshuayi chipped in with a brace.

However Chelsea’s win came at a cost for Pedro, after the Spanish forward was knocked out by Gunners keeper David Ospina.

The Colombian stopper raced off his line to beat Pedro to a ball over the top, but Ospina took out the Blues forward at the same time.

Indeed, Pedro was wiped out by the collision, blood flowed, and he was taken to hospital as a result.

Social media update

After the match Antonio Conte revealed that Pedro suffered a concussion in the challenge with Ospina.

The Italian boss confirmed that Pedro was staying in China to receive medical assistance, while the rest of the Chelsea squad flew to Singapore.

Pedro also took to social media on Saturday night to update his fans on his health.

The forward seemed to suggest that everything was going to be ok.

Bad news on Sunday

But on Sunday morning, Chelsea fans have been told that Pedro’s pre-season tour of Asia is over.

Clearly concerned about his concussion, Chelsea are flying Pedro back to England.

We wish the Blues star a speedy recovery.
