West Ham 2 – Tottenham 3
The truth is the scoreline was deceiving.
West Ham had some momentary hope of snatching a draw with Tottenham on Saturday, however that result would have been a travesty for Spurs.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men looked far superior as they took a 3-0 lead away at the Hammers in the London derby.
Harry Kane continued his remarkable scoring record against his London rivals with a double. The England centre-forward has scored 21 goals in 29 London derbies.
Christian Eriksen bagged Tottenham’s third before the Hammers sparked a late revival.
Javier Hernandez scored a header to give the hosts hope, and Cheikhou Kouyate set up a frantic finish with his 87th minute header.
‘Axe for Slaven Bilic’
According to the Sunday Express, the end may soon be nigh for West Ham boss Slaven Bilic.
Bilic’s position has been under threat for sometime, although a recent win over Huddersfield gave the Croatian some breathing room.
But, the Express now believe that goodwill may have already expired for Bilic.
Readers are told that “defeat by Spurs could now see him finally axed”. The West Ham boss is described as a “dead man walking”.
The Hammers now have seven days off before they take on Swansea at home next weekend.
That game already looks pivotal for West Ham, as they occupied 18th spot in the Premier League.
Swansea are also struggling to break free from the relegation zone, having lost 2-1 at home to Watford on Saturday in the league.
