Man United vs Stoke
If Man United beat Stoke on Monday night at Old Trafford, Man City’s lead at the top of the table will be reduced to just 12 points.
Man City lost their first match of the campaign on Sunday away at Liverpool.
Jose Mourinho will be looking to capitalise on that slip up as Stoke arrive at the Theatre of Dreams.
Stoke, of course, are without a permanent manager before the Man United game.
And to make matters worse for the Potters, on Sunday night it was confirmed that moves to sign Martin O’Neill as manager had failed.
Bad news for Anthony Martial
One player set to miss the Stoke game for Man United is French forward Anthony Martial.
Mourinho has confirmed that Martial is struggling with an injury. As reported on Man United’s official website:
Jose also stated Anthony Martial is a doubt when asked if everyone is fit for the visit of the Potters. “Martial is not ready, but I hope he can play. Plus, the other ones that are unavailable.”
Martial has scored seven Premier League goals and chipped in with four assists this season.
Good news for Antonio Valencia
In sunnier news, Antonio Valencia is poised to make his Man United return against Stoke.
Valencia has been sidelined for several weeks with injury. But the Ecaudorian has now recovered. Again, Man United have confirmed:
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed Antonio Valencia is fit to return from injury in Monday night’s Premier League match against Stoke City at Old Trafford.
The Ecuador international has not featured since suffering a hamstring injury during the 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on 17 December.
