Manuel Lanzini

Bad news for Manuel Lanzini, better news for Aaron Cresswell after Bournemouth

West Ham 1 – Bournemouth 1

After beating Arsenal last time out, Bournemouth held West Ham to a 1-1 draw on Saturday at the London Stadium.

The result left the Hammers 11th in the league with 26 points from 24 matches. Bournemouth are a place and a point below the Irons.

The goals arrived in the second half. Ryan Fraser fired the Cherries ahead in the 71st minute before Javier Hernandez levelled two minutes later.

Bad news for Manuel Lanzini

Last weekend Manuel Lanzini scored twice for West Ham in a 4-1 win over Huddersfield.

But against the Cherries, the Argentine playmaker was subbed out the match for Chicharito midway through the second half.

Manuel Lanzini limped out of the Bournemouth game with a hamstring injury.

After the game David Moyes admitted he is “worried” about Lanzini. That means the midfielder is out of action for at least the next few weeks.

Lanzini is likely to miss matches against Wigan and Crystal Palace in January. West Ham take on Brighton and Watford at the start of February.

Better news for Aaron Cresswell

But Lanzini wasn’t the only injury problem on Saturday for West Ham.

Left-back Aaron Cresswell left the game in the final minutes with an injury. He was replaced by Sam Byram.

After the match it was confirmed that Aaron Cresswell went off with cramp.

The hope is the defender should be back soon.

West Ham’s injury crisis

With Lanzini a likely long term absentee, West Ham fans have taken to social media to bemoan the injury crisis at their club.

With a little over a week in the January transfer window, will the Irons get enough business done?
