Bad for Man United: Mourinho’s key player out of CSKA Moscow match

CSKA Moscow v Man United

The Red Devils travel to Russia in midweek to take on CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.

Paul Pogba, of course, will miss the Champions League match after the French star picked up a hamstring injury a few weeks ago.

Man United began their Champions League campaign with a routine 3-0 win over Basel at Old Trafford.

As for CSKA Moscow, they pulled off arguably the result of round one of the competition, winning 2-1 away at Benfica.

However the Russians have been hit with bad news in the build up to the United game.

Last weekend CSKA drew 0-0 away at Dinamo Moscow.

Aside from dropping two points in the title race, CSKA lost their best player in the game.

Defender Mario Fernandes was withdrawn in the first half of the game with a head injury. He needed a stretcher to exit the pitch.

Marouane Fellaini is out

Last weekend Man United won 1-0 away at Southampton.

As the Red Devils boarded their bus after the match, reports filtered out of St Mary’s that Marouane Fellaini was limping.

Fellaini, for the record, completed the 90 minutes in Man United’s win over the Saints. However he picked up his knock after a tackle from Shane Long.

But on Monday, the BBC’s Simon Stone has reported on social media that Fellaini is out of the CSKA Moscow game.

The updates on Fellaini are below.
