Bad for Liverpool: Virgil van Dijk & Trent Alexander-Arnold updates before Leicester

Liverpool vs Leicester

Anfield will be rocking on Wednesday night when Leicester visit Liverpool.

Liverpool are four points clear of Man City in the Premier League as the Reds look to win their first title in 29 years.

Man City will have the chance to reduce the gap on Liverpool to one point on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola’s side travel to Newcastle tonight in the league.

Will Virgil van Dijk play vs Leicester?

Liverpool fans are now sweating over the availability of Virgil van Dijk for the Leicester match.

That’s after the Dutch centre-half was missing from Monday’s training session.

Van Dijk isn’t injured, but he’s been ill in recent days. As reported in the Liverpool Echo:

Virgil van Dijk is a concern for Jurgen Klopp ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Leicester City at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The commanding Dutch defender still hasn’t returned to full training for the Premier League leadersfollowing the illness he picked up after last week’s trip to Dubai.

Were Van Dijk to miss out, Klopp could pair Joel Matip with Dejan Lovren at the heart of his backline.

Trent Alexander-Arnold injury update

Jurgen Klopp is likely to still be without Trent Alexander-Arnold for the match with the Foxes.

Alexander-Arnold is out of action with a knee injury.

James Milner played at right-back in Liverpool’s last league match against Crystal Palace. However Milner was sent off against the Eagles, meaning he’s suspended for the Leicester match.

With Joe Gomez also sidelined with injury, Fabinho could start in the full-back slot on Wednesday.
