Ayoze Perez 3 – Southampton 1
Newcastle enjoyed a happy Saturday beating Southampton 3-1 at St James’ Park.
That won has confirmed Newcastle’s survival in the Premier League for another season.
Ayoze Perez was the hero for the Magpies as he scored a hat-trick to sink the Saints.
The Toon are up to 12th in the league with 41 points from 35 games.
Ayoze Perez indicates Newcastle exit
Now 25, Ayoze Perez is likely to win the Newcastle player of the season award.
The forward has scored ten Premier League goals, as well as chipping in a couple of assists.
But could the attacker leave Newcastle this summer?
Following the Southampton game, Perez indicated it could be time to leave the club:
I cannot thank Newcastle enough for what they have done for me, I wasn’t even professional when I signed. I always have that in mind.
There are going to be options. I’ll be up to hear what is coming, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to leave 100 per cent.
Obviously, it is a dream to be in that Spanish team. We all want the manager to stay, it means a lot for this club.
According to the Times, both Real Betis and Real Sociedad are interested in signing Perez.
The attacker was signed for just 1.5 million pounds from Tenerife in 2014, and that means Newcastle stand to make a sizeable profit on him.
For the record, Perez is under contract at Newcastle until 2021.
Will Salomon Rondon leave too?
There are still doubts about Salomon Rondon’s future at Newcastle.
The South American striker has spent the season on loan with the Magpies from West Brom.
It’s common knowledge that Rondon would cost Newcastle 16 million pounds if they want to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
Will Newcastle stump up the cash, or will Rondon return to the Hawthorns?
