Aubameyang not worried about Arsenal’s struggles in front of goal

Arsenal struggling for goals

Arsenal’s main issue so far this season has been a lack of goals.

After six gameweeks, the Gunners have managed to score just eight Premier League goals.

This is a much lower return than the division’s top clubs, and a problem which Arsenal will need to fix if they hope to start picking up wins on a more consistent basis.

Liverpool, for example, have netted 15 this term, Everton 14, Leicester 13, Aston Villa 12 and Tottenham an impressive 16 goals.

Aubameyang not worried about Gunners’ attack

There are a number of factors which could be pinpointed as central to the north Londoners’ declining attacking output.

The back-three/five formation deployed by Mikel Arteta is not the best for creating chances and carving opposing teams open.

The Spaniard has slowly started to transition away from this formation towards a three-man midfield, with the struggles of adapting to a new system now perhaps hindering the Gunners.

One of the more obvious issues, though, is that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been goal-shy this season.

The Gabonese international has been Arsenal’s main source of goals since joining the club – notching 22 in the league last term.

However, this season has seen the 31-year-old score just once in the Premier League.

When drawn on Arsenal’s lack of goals during a recent interview, though, Aubameyang assured that he is not worried:

“We are not finding scoring goals easy at the moment.

“This happens in teams — I haven’t scored for a few games in the league, either.

“But we’re an experienced team, with experienced attacking players and we know we will turn this around. I’m not worried about that.”
