Aubameyang & Lacazette

Aubameyang and Lacazette’s penalties for Arsenal vs Stoke were identical (Video)

A bizarre video of the two penalties scored by Arsenal versus Stoke City on Sunday afternoon has been going viral online today, after footage showcasing just how similar both spot-kicks were came to the fore.

Matchup

The two sides went head to head at the Emirates in a Premier League clash, with visitors Stoke having been desperate for 3 points in a bid to ease their growing relegation concerns.

Arsenal, meanwhile, sat a full 13 points off Tottenham for the English top-flight’s final Champions League place heading onto proceedings, with the Gunners’ focus for the remainder of the campaign having shifted to their Europa League ventures.

3-0

A dismal opening 45 minutes in North London on Sunday saw hosts Arsenal booed off by the home fans at the Emirates at the interval, a gesture which sprung the Gunners into action upon their return for the second-half.

After dominating much of the second 45, the hosts were finally rewarded in the 75th-minute, when a controversial penalty call saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang step up to confidently slot home past Jack Butland in the Stoke goal.

And ‘Auba’ was at it again ten minutes later, smashing home from a corner after finding himself unmarked in the middle of the Potters’ box.

A perfect day for Arsene Wenger’s men was capped off when substitute Alexandre Lacazette was felled in the box for another penalty for the hosts, with Aubameyang turning down the chance to clinch his first hat-trick for the Gunners to allow Lacazette to restore some of his shattered confidence in dispatching the spot-kick himself.
