According to The Daily Star, Aston Villa will offer Jack Grealish a bumper new four-year contract after the Englishman did not leave Villa this summer.
Tottenham were the team closest to signing Grealish but despite them missing out on Grealish, they may be able to land him next year as, according to the report from the Star, Grealish’s new contract may include a clause that would allow him to leave if Villa do not win promotion this season.
Exciting young talent
Grealish started his career with Aston Villa but he did spend some time out on loan at Notts County.
During his loan spell with Notts County, he would make 39 appearances, scoring five and assisting seven.
Grealish has also played 43 games for Aston Villa’s U23 side. During those 43 games, he scored six and assisted nine.
However, despite being just 22 years of age, Grealish has already racked up an impressive 110 appearances for Aston Villa’s first team.
The Englishman has scored nine and assisted 15 in that time. But it was this past season which showed what a top talent Grealish could potentially be.
Grealish missed the start of the 2017/18 Championship season due to injury. However, when he came back he was one of Villa’s best players, scoring three and assisting five in 27 league appearances.
Grealish’s great form would also help guide Aston Villa to the 2017/18 Championship playoff final after they finished 4th in the Championship.
Villa were able to comfortably see off Middlesbrough in the semi-finals of the playoffs.
However, they met Fulham in the final and lost 1-0, despite Fulham only having 10 men for part of the game.
