Villa splash the cash ahead of Premier League return
Aston Villa are reportedly set to break their transfer record with the £22 million signing of Club Brugge’s Brazilian striker Wesley Moraes.
Villa completed their return to the English top-flight when they beat Derby in the play-off final last month.
Anwar El Ghazi and John McGinn scored the goals in a 2-1 win at Wembley.
Now, Villa are planning for life in the Premier League, and will be in need of some quality reinforcements.
According to a recent report from the Birmingham Mail, Villa are considering signing up to seven players during the summer window.
With Tammy Abraham and Tyrone Mings returning to their parent clubs following loan spells, Villa will likely also want to keep the pair.
However, a new striker has been linked with the Villans, and he could be set to cost them a club record £22 million.
Wesley Moraes’ move to be completed imminently
According to a report from Belgian outlet HLN, Aston Villa have agreed a deal for Club Brugge striker Wesley Moraes.
Their report claims that ‘Aston Villa and Club Brugge have agreed on a record amount of 25 million euros. Wesley signs a 5-year contract there. The deal will probably be officialized today.’
The report also reveals that Cardiff City bid €20 million for the player in January, but the offer was ‘resolutely declined’.
Moraes scored an impressive 17 goals last season, while also assisting 10, and will no doubt add some top quality firepower to Aston Villa’s ranks.
The only worry for Villa fans is what does this mean for Tammy Abraham?
The Englishman scored 26 goals in the Championship last season, but with Villa set to sign Wesley Moraes, a move for Abraham may not be possible.
