Burnley & Tom Heaton
In the end, Burnley survived relegation from the Premier League without too much bother in 2018-19.
Burnley finished the season in 15th place, with 40 points from 38 games.
Key to Burnley’s successful fight against the drop were the performances of England international goalkeeper Tom Heaton in the final months of the season.
After missing the start of the season through injury, Heaton played 19 times in the Premier League.
He recorded four clean sheets, while Burnley won 8 games with him in goal.
As confirmed in the Sun today, Burnley have tried to agree a new contract with Heaton, to keep him at Turf Moor.
The 33-year-old keeper is under contract with Burnley until 2020.
Aston Villa vs Bournemouth
However, Heaton has rejected Burnley’s contract offer, which in turn has led the Sun to link the veteran to Aston Villa and Bournemouth:
Tom Heaton has rocked Burnley be rejecting a new contract.
And that is good news for Premier League rivals Bournmemouth and Aston Villa who are tracking the England keeper’s situation at Turf Moor.
It’s also worth noting that Heaton’s rival at Burnley, Nick Pope, agreed a new long-term contract a few weeks ago.
BREAKING: Nick Pope has signed a new long-term contract at Burnley until June 2023.

Burnley & Rapid Vienna’s Boli Mbombo
The Sun also add that Burnley could look to sign Rapid Vienna’s Boli Mbombo this summer.
23-year-old Belgian defender Mbombo is under contract with Rapid until 2021.
Last season, Mbombo scored two goals in 28 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga.
The Sun have previously claimed that Huddersfield are also interested in Mbombo, who could cost any suitor 3 million pounds.
Finally, on Mbombo, one of his claims to fame is that he’s the cousin of current Man United striker Romelu Lukaku.
