Aston Villa & Newcastle vying for Liverpool’s Harry Wilson/Reds name price – Sky

As per a report from Sky Sports News, Aston Villa and Newcastle United have set their respective sights on Liverpool starlet Harry Wilson.

Liverpool product

22-year-old Wilson has been on the books of the Reds for 14 years, since going on to make his way through the club’s youth ranks.

To this point, however, despite being highly-regarded, the versatile midfielder/attacker is yet to make a Premier League appearance for Liverpool.

As such, the last couple of seasons have seen Wilson farmed out on a pair of respective loan spells.

And, after beginning to showcase his immense potential during a stint with Hull City over the second-half of the 2017/18 campaign, the Welsh international went on to definitively prove just why he is viewed as a potential star in the making last season.

Another temporary Championship spell, this time with Frank Lampard’s Derby County, saw Wilson rack up 16 goals and 4 assists across 43 league appearances, playing a key role in the Rams’ run to the playoff final.

Premier League suitors

As such, though the free-kick specialist has since returned to Liverpool once more, news today that another pair of clubs are expressing a keen interest in Wilson’s services has come as little surprise.

The outfits in question, meanwhile, are Aston Villa and Newcastle United.

According to Sky Sports News, both clubs have opened initial talks with the Liverpool board over the Welshman’s signing:

While both Villa and Newcastle would be open to the possibility of a loan deal, though, Liverpool view Wilson as a potential first-team contributor this coming season, and are therefore opposed to the idea of another temporary departure.

Both Sky and David Maddock of the Mirror, however, suggest that the Reds could be coaxed into a sale, at the right price.

Though Jurgen Klopp would be ‘reluctant’ to allow Wilson to move on, the German tactician understands that the attacker would likely find consistent game-time easier to come by elsewhere.

Therefore, a bid of around £25 million could see Wilson on the move this summer:
