Ashley Young’s time at Manchester United
Ashley Young joined Manchester United in July of 2011 from Aston Villa.
Since joining United, Young has gone on to play 216 games in all competitions, in which he has scored 17 and assisted 41.
Young is naturally a left midfielder, however, in recent seasons, he has moved into a full-back role.
Young’s previous deal with Man United was due to expire at the end of the 2017/18 season.
However, Young had a superb 2017/18 campaign for United, playing 39 games across all competitions as their left-back.
As a result United would extend his deal by a year, meaning his contract is now due to run out in July of 2019.
Young’s excellent displays also saw him play as England’s main left-back as they reached the semi-final of the World Cup.
Young wants a new United deal
Young has also been an integral member of United’s squad this season.
The now full-back has played 14 games across all competitions this season, in which he has scored one and assisted two.

Young has also been United’s captain on a number of occasions and the 33-year-old is now looking to earn yet another new deal with United.
When asked if Young would sign a new deal with United, he had this to say:
“That’s up to the club.
“I feel as fit as when I was 21 years old. As long as my legs can keep taking me up and down the pitch, I’d love to stay here.”
“I’m 33, nearly 34 now, that’s not changed for me. I still want trophies, still want to win things and that’s what everyone in the squad wants.”
