Will be missed
Arturo Vidal will officially retire from international football following Chile’s failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The side were beaten comprehensively by Brazil in a 3-0 thrashing which confirmed they would not make the competition.
Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Uruguay were the four teams from the CONMEBOL that qualified for next summers competition.
That left Chile out of the competition and world class players such as Vidal and Alexis Sanchez will missing the next World Cup.
Though, it was a bitter end of Vidal who has officially retired from international football this morning.
The Bayern Munich man has been one of the star players for Chile in the past and still maintains his world-class standards at club level.
Chile’s failure to qualify for the competition was the final nail in the coffin for Vidal who did hint a couple of months ago about retirement.
The player suggested that this coming World Cup would be his last but the failure to qualify no doubt made his mind up.
Bayern will now benefit from a fully committed Arturo Vidal as they look to get their domestic and European form back on track.

While Vidal’s retirment is no doubt one of the biggest talking points of the day, so is Alexis Sanchez.
The Arsenal star must now return to Arsenal where questions remain over his future.
With his contract up next summer, the player looks set to be moving on with Manchester City interested.
Though, there have been some interesting comments from PSG’s Dani Alves today.
The comments certainly suggest that a deal for Alexis to move to the French giants is well and truly on.
